Through his years of observing students he believes that the characteristic most needed to prosper in the field is one should be hard working and argue to learn. A skill everyone should master when venturing in this particular field is problem solving. He initially chose this field because he always wanted doctor growing up. Though along his journey he fell in love chemistry and found utter enjoy in teaching. Thus, he chose to stay in academics. Lastly if you believe that you enjoy challenging yourself then studying chemistry is the path for you.
From her experience of teaching IT to students she believes the characteristic that students should have is discipline. A major skill that one should have is time management as the is a lot of modules thus requires a learner to plan his or her time wisely. She drives joy from watching students being hungry to learn. She also has industrial experience. Though she loves being in academics because of flexibility she advices that you need to be ready to work and put in the time if entering this field. If you can put in extra work, you will be doing yourself a huge favour.

She believes that students that are interested and passionate about the world of computer science, are a few characteristics that are best suited for this area. A skill that she suggests that everyone should acquire when entering this field is maths skills, she emphasized that a student who took pure maths in highs school are better equipped then students that took math lit. Presentation skills such as public speaking are also quite important as well. She also said that in this field most of a learner’s time will be spent on a computer screen. The reason she chose this field was the father. Lastly if you are curious and have problem solving skills this is the field for you.
Anneke Harmse a professor in IT. She states if one wants to venter into the world of IT and succeed in it one should have logical thinking, creative thinking as well as a structured way of thinking. If you wish to become a professor, you may mostly spend your time in an office. Anneke Harmse derives joy from the problem solving she does in her day to day life. Her final advice was to ask yourself where you see yourself in 5 years, that question will allow you to identify your passion. Always research what you are getting yourself into. Lastly Know who you are and do not follow the crowd.
